Born in Rio de Janeiro to a Japanese mother and British father, Carla Kasumi currently lives in Brooklyn and works as an artist and arts administrator. Her work with audio-guided walks, performance and urban interventions, uses narrative and coded messages to explore identity, otherness and belonging. In New York, Carla has performed with Tania Bruguera (Guggenheim’s Francis Effect) and Miao Jiaxin (The Cage Project), and as an arts administrator, she worked as the Production Manager at the participatory walks organization, Elastic City.
